OCC lip Tars - 5/10

Another hotly blogged item i bought from The Makeup Artists Boutique were 3 OCC Lip Tars -

(Fantastic web store, which i highly recommend. Great customer service!)

After reading so many wonderful positive reviews of the Tars i thought wow, i must give these a go.
They are touted as being long lasting, moisterising, mixable lip gunk that had the shine of a gloss but the wear of a lipstick.

Here is the official blurb -

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, OCC Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment, so a little goes a very, very long way. An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, OCC Lip Tars come in concise range of colors (and black and white!) for a limitless selection of shades made by you!
Like all of our products, OCC Lip Tar is 100% Vegan and Cruelty-Free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. A simple, elegant formula that contains Hemp Oil, Peppermint Oil and Vitamin E, OCC Lip Tar feels as good on the lips as it looks!

I bought 3, each £8.99
NSFW - a bright true pillar box red ( "Vivid Primary Scarlet, The Ultimate Red Lacquer")
Petty Beige - Yellow toned Beige ("OPAQUE AND TRUE, DEEP-TONED ECRU")
Clear - slightly yellow toned clear and runnier than colours ("CLEAR, GREAT FOR MIXING WITH LOOSE COLOUR & PIGMENT")

NSFW - IS very true pure red. Lovely shade, Sadly feathers like hell. This photo below is taken is immediately after i applied it, with a brush and with liner....you can see the feathering already on the lower lip. Within a few minutes the feathering gets much worse. I have far better reds this shade that dont bleed.

Petty Beige - YUCK!!!!! This looks completly digusting on my lips. Its not nude,as many reviews had it, its...sickly yellow beige. One positive point, it doesnt feather!

Mixed together they form a cool toned rosy pink- Combining them stops the feathering of the red and gets rid of the horrid tones of the beige. This colour is pleasant enough and at least suits my skintone but isnt a colour i wear that often.

Sadly though, this isnt enough for me to want more (as much as the blue and black shades appeal to me!). They dont last that long compared to any other lipstick, they dry out my lips faster than most lipsticks and the Clear, which you are meant to mix with pure pigments still is far far too runny to work as a lip colour and bleeds very badly. They also have a strong scent of peppermint which ive never liked that much.

That sucks that they dry out your lips! I keep wanting to try a few of the colors, RX, Anime and Divine.

I do like the color you created yourself :)

yeah everywhere else i read they were moisterising...but for me, the opposite. grrr.
I do like the shade i created and its the only way i wear them. Perhaps if i do buy the blue and mix that with the red i can create a cool purple shade.
